Why You Should Get Wedding Insurance

Wedding insurance is an insurance policy that covers your wedding. It protects you financially against unforeseen disasters and mishap.

A wedding insurance policy is pretty inexpensive, costing anywhere between $150 to $500, a small price to pay for peace of mind. With the cost of wedding these days, wedding insurance is now a necessity.

The more expensive the wedding is, the more essential having a wedding insurance is. If you are having a budget wedding, you might want to opt to have the insurance cover only portions of your wedding, like just covering your luggage with your wedding gowns and tuxedos.

Wedding insurance does not cover cancelling due to cold feet. Wedding insurance also does not cover things that you know about already before you got your insurance policy.

Wedding insurance usually covers (depending on your policy) :

  • Weather – postponement due to rain, hurricane or bad weather
  • Injuries or Illness – postponement due to illness or injury
  • Missing Officiant
  • Missing Vendors (caterer, photographer, florist or other key vendor)
  • Location – damage to the site like fire, electrical problems or going out of business

Optional insurance policy riders :

  • Military Service – in case the bride or groom is called to military duty
  • Gown and Tuxedo – includes damage or stores going out of business
  • Gifts – against damage or theft
  • Liability – in case someone gets hurt
  • Honeymoon – cancellation due to illness, bad weather, etc.
